Mexican Hat Rock Formation
Mexican Hat Rock Formation – The rock, a famed landmark along US 163, rises east of the highway above the west bank of the San Juan River. Mexican Hat is a caprock of sandstone atop a pedestal of red shale. This photo was taken with high winds raging from behind me that started kicking up dust. Glad I got this shot before it really hit.
